2020-2021

BIG NEWS!!
After one year of doing all lessons virtually due to the pandemic, we have decided to stay online only permanently!

First, if you have time, please read our news post directly below this, that we wrote last year after several months of teaching virtually due to the pandemic...

Since our online lessons have been such an overwhelming success, we have decided to transition Lowe's School of Music to a online-only business permanently!

The reasons for this are plentiful, many of which I listed in my previous post (students and staff find it very personal and natural, both parties save time and money not needing to travel to the school, lessons in comfort of own home, etc.)

Also, over the last year we have added students across Canada and around the world!!  It's been an incredible development!  So, reopening the physical location wouldn't even matter to many of our new clients!

So, when we consider all of these factors, it just makes sense to close the brick and mortar music school and continue online permanently!  We're very excited!

All lessons went virtual in 2020 and it's going really well!

When the pandemic hit in March 2020 we quickly transitioned our lessons to entirely online using apps like Skype, Google Meet, Zoom, and Facetime.  While we were unsure at first what to expect, we were thrilled how well the lessons work in this manner!

First off, the interaction in a private video call feels almost entirely like the actual face-to-face interaction.  The teacher can see and hear what's happening, then provide feedback and play examples.

Also, there were many unexpected benefits to the online lessons!  It turns out the reduction in travel time was a huge benefit to our clients.  Typically they would pack up their musical gear, drive to the school, wait in the waiting room, unpack again, then have their lesson, and do the revere to get home.  This could mean a 30 minute lesson could mean allotting 60 or even 90 minutes of the day when all is said and done!  Now, they just go to the music room in their home where their instrument is already setup, and they're ready for the call!

The final result is that almost all of our students not only enjoy the virtual lessons, but prefer them!  The vast majority have told us that they will stay with virtual lessons, even after the pandemic is under control.

So, we are happy to continue to offer virtual lessons permanently going forward!
